Théorème de Tychonov

Théorème : Tout produit d'espaces topologiques compacts est compact (pour la topologie produit).

Ce théorème se démontre assez facilement (et est intuitif) lorsqu'il s'agit d'un produit fini. Pour un produit infini dénombrable d'espaces métriques compacts, la preuve se fait à l'aide du procédé diagonal de Cantor. Pour un produit quelconque, ce théorème est beaucoup moins évident et est en fait équivalent à l'axiome du choix.
