Inégalité maximale de Kolmogorov

Théorème : Soit $X_1,\dots,X_N$ des variables aléatoires indépendantes, telle que $E(X_n)=0$ et $E(X_n^2)<+\infty$ pour chaque $n=1,\dots,N$. Pour chaque $n=1,\dots,N$, on pose $S_n=\sum_{k=1}^n X_k$. Alors, pour tout $t>0$, on a $$P\big(\max(|S_1|,\dots,|S_N|)\geq t\big)\leq \frac{V(S_N)}{t^2}.$$

Cette inégalité apparait comme une version "maximale" de l'inégalité de Bienaymé-Tchebychev. On peut remarquer que $V(S_N)=V(X_1)+\cdots+V(X_N)$.
