Théorème de Bolzano-Weierstrass

Théorème : Toute suite de réels bornée admet une suite extraite convergente.

Ce théorème est un premier pas vers la compacité. Il signifie essentiellement qu'un segment $[a,b]$ de $\mathbb R$ est compact. Il reste vrai pour les suites bornées de nombres complexes, ou plus généralement pour les suites bornées d'un espace vectoriel normé de dimension finie.

Ce théorème est énoncé par Bolzano en 1817, et démontré rigoureusement par Weierstrass environ 50 ans plus tard.
