Point régulier, birégulier, stationnaire

Arc paramétré

Soit $(I,f)$ un arc paramétré de classe $\mathcal C^1,$ $t\in I$ et $M=f(t).$

  • On dit que $M$ est un point régulier si $f '(t)\neq 0.$
  • Dans le cas contraire, on dit que M est un point singulier ou encore point stationnaire.
  • Si $(I,f)$ est de classe $\mathcal C^2,$ le point $M$ est dit birégulier si les vecteurs $f '(t)$ et $f ''(t)$ sont linéairement indépendants.

L'étude locale d'un arc paramétré est plus facile au voisinage d'un point birégulier!

Surface paramétrée

Si on considère une nappe paramétrée $(u,v)\mapsto M(u,v),$ un point $M(u_0,v_0)$ est régulier si la différentielle de $M$ en $(u_0,v_0)$ est de rang 2.

En un point régulier d'une nappe paramétrée, on peut définir le plan tangent.

Surface implicite

On considère une surface implicite donnée par une équation du type $F(x,y,z)=0,$ pour $(x,y,z)$ dans un ouvert $U$ de $\mathbb R^3.$ Un point $M_0=(x_0,y_0,z_0)$ est dit régulier si $$\left(\frac{\partial M}{\partial x}(M_0),\frac{\partial M}{\partial y}(M_0),\frac{\partial M}{\partial z}(M_0)\right)\neq (0,0,0).$$ Alors, localement autour de $M_0,$ la surface peut être décrite par une nappe paramétrée, et même par une surface cartésienne cartésienne (c'est-à-dire par une équation du type $z=f(x,y),$ si la dérivée partielle par rapport à $z$ est non-nulle).
