Loi uniforme discrète
Soit $\{x_1,\dots,x_N\}$ une partie de $\mathbb R$ à $N$ éléments. Une variable aléatoire $X:\mathcal \Omega\to\mathbb R$ suit une loi uniforme sur $\{x_1,\dots,x_N\}$ si :
- $X(\Omega)=\{x_1,\dots,x_N\}$.
- $P(X=x_1)=\cdots=P(X=x_N)=\frac 1N$.
La variable aléatoire $X$ admet alors une espérance et une variance données par : $$E(X)=\frac{x_1+\cdots+x_N}N\textrm{ et }V(X)=\frac{x_1^2+\cdots+x_N^2}N-(E(X))^2.$$
Ex : Une urne contient $n$ boules numérotées de 1 à $n$. On tire une boule au hasard, et on note $X$ la variable aléatoire égale au chiffre obtenu. Alors $X$ suit une loi uniforme sur $\{1,...,n\}$ (ce que l'on note $X\hookrightarrow\mathcal U(n)$). Dans ce cas, on a : $$E(X)=\frac{n+1}2\textrm{ et }V(X)=\frac{n^2-1}{12}.$$
