Abaque

Une abaque est un petit objet permettant d'écrire facilement des nombres, dans le but d'aider au calcul arithmétique. Dans une forme actuelle (il fut beaucoup utilisé par les Romains pour qui la numérotation était très différente!), il consiste en un cadre métallique sur lequel repose des tiges horizontales, et sur chaque tige 9 boules. Chaque tige représente, de bas en haut, les unités, les dizaines,.... Le nombre de boules tirées vers la droite représente le chiffre des unités,.... . Par exemple, ci-dessus, on obtient 7032.

Les abaques sont notamment utilisés dans les baby-foots!!!
